The meaning of the Fishhook

Known in ancient Hawaii as the hook from the havens, the legend originated from the Māori people of New Zealand, where it is known as  “hei matau”; a bone or greenstone carving in the shape of a highly stylized fish. The fish hook represent strength, good luck and safe travel across water. Popular in the cultures of Hawaii, Samoa, New Zealand, Tahiti & Tonga.
